Jonesboro will host the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Championships through 2025
Jonesboro, Arkansas – The unanticipated chance to host the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic Championships through 2025 was extended to Jonesboro.
The USA Track and Field Region 9 had originally intended to hold its Junior Olympics Championship at a site in Missouri, but owing to construction, the group had to locate a new location fast and chose the campus of ASU-Jonesboro.
There was just one issue, though. The A&P board had to come up with $12,500 to cover costs such as hotel accommodations for meet officials in order to bring the track meet to northeast Arkansas. The track meet was brought here using the A&P board’s annual discretionary spending allowance of up to $15,000.
In addition to the meet being held in Jonesboro as a result of the rapid action, USATF has also decided to hold the meet in the hub city of NEA in 2024 and 2025.
