Little Rock Nine inspiring New Leaders Council Convention
Little Rock, Arkansas – The Little Rock Nine are being honored for blazing a trail for leadership in the country.
The 2023 New Leaders Council Convention will bring together more than 200 leaders from across the nation this weekend in Little Rock.
The NLC brings together individuals each year who work to influence the social and political climate of the nation.
This year’s theme is “Creating change where change is needed.”
Little Rock’s crucial contribution to the civil rights movement led the organization to select it as its host city.
According to the organizers, the Little Rock Nine’s valiant deeds serve as a testament to the value of leadership and the quest of justice.
“We wanted to make sure, as we are bringing leaders from around the country, that we are bringing them to a place where hope, resiliency and beautiful things are happening” Karen Pandy-Cherry, with the New Leaders Council, said.
Dr. Terrance Roberts, one of the Little Rock Nine, gave a speech at Central High School on Friday to start off the three-day celebration.
The Mosaic Templars Culture Center and the Clinton Presidential Library will both be visited by the convention, which runs through Sunday.
