Fordyce, Arkansas – Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the governor of Arkansas, is visiting the hamlet of Fordyce to assess the damage caused by a mass shooting that left the community in ruins.

The governor took to X, posting, “There is darkness in this world, but the light of our faith and the resiliency of our people are much stronger. Pray for Fordyce.”

The fact that the horrific massacre in their community occurred on June 21, 2024, is still difficult for many people to comprehend.

“You know, I think this might be one of the toughest parts of it, just because the realization that this has really happened is coming true,” Cassidy Kelly said.

Four lives have been lost, and many are still in mourning as funerals are held.

“It’s still kind of plays through my head,” Kevin Archer said.

During the day, Governor Sanders paid visits at the Mad Butcher Memorial, the Dallas County Medical Center, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

“It means a lot to this small town of Fordyce,” Archer said.

While on maternity leave at the time of the mass shooting, Archer’s daughter was employed at the Mad Butcher. His kid is employed by the police force as well.

“I’m thankful that none of my children were injured in any way, but my heart still goes out to victims and the survivors,” Archer said.

Archer stated that he could only expect to see the governor and Fordyce exchanging hope.

“She took time out of her schedule to check on the victims, survivors, you know, check on first responders cause all of them played a part in this tragic event that happened last Friday,” Archer said.

Kelly claims that this healing process will take months or perhaps years, rather than a few short days.

“It means a lot for her to be here, I hate it was under these circumstances, but,” Kelly said.

In an attempt to maintain their Fordyce strength, Kelly and Archer beg for prayers.
