River Market Entertainment District in Little Rock celebrates its fifth birthday

Little Rock, Arkansas – The entertainment area in Little Rock celebrated its fifth birthday on Friday.

In 2019, the board of directors authorized the use of alcohol while strolling through Little Rock’s downtown under specific circumstances.

It was a lovely evening for the festivities. People were along Clinton Avenue, enjoying live music, and coming and going from River Market eateries.

Audreia Eubanks remarked, “We had a few drinks, and it’s nice being able to walk around.”

Audreia Eubanks and her mother, Viola, enjoyed the evening catching up and taking advantage of the nice weather.

“I do like the idea of being able just to walk around and chit-chat with my mom while we have a nice little cocktail,” Audreia Eubanks stated.

Under certain restrictions, the entertainment district permits visitors to tour downtown Little Rock while intoxicated.

A wristband and a unique cup must be obtained at a participating location.

Among the restaurants involved is Dugan’s Pub. Don Dugan, the owner, claimed that business had greatly benefited.

“It’s a fun thing to be able to just walk around… have a beer and not feel like you have to hurry up and finish [the drink] and go somewhere else,” Dugan stated. “Then, hurry up and finish that there.”

According to Dugan, the district’s performance was so great that the city authorized its expansion from 4th to Cumberland streets last year.

However, as the entertainment sector develops, this owner is hoping for one thing in particular.

“There are a few more people using it,” stated Dugan. “I think some people aren’t aware that it’s possible to come down here and do that,” Dugan remarked.
