Only 36 ICU beds available in the state, Act 1002 remains into force
According to Arkansas Department of Health, only 36 ICU beds are available across the state which is just 3% of the total ICU beds in Arkansas.
The latest Covid-19 surge has filled the hospitals with patients forcing the medical staff to work around the clock, ask for additional medical staff from out of state and ban the visiting policies.
There are 1,172 ICU beds in the entire state. Only 25 ICU beds were available on Wednesday, but the number ticked up slightly on Thursday reaching 36 ICU beds available.
COVID-19 patients fill 464, which is 39.5 percent, of the total ICU beds in the state.
When it comes to ventilators, more than half of the total number of ventilators in the state are available as of Thursday. According to the ADH data, there are still 606 ventilators available in Arkansas, 56 percent of the 1,079 total. COVID-19 patients are using 266 of the available vents.
Arkansas reported 2,777 new positive cases on Thursday with 17 deaths reported. Currently, there are 21,461 active cases in Arkansas.
