LITTLE ROCK — A Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed a man who charged him with a baseball bat, according to a news release from Arkansas State Police.
The deputy was called to a burglary in progress at a home on Adams Road, west of Ozark around 1 a.m. Monday. When he arrived, he found a window on a car outside had been shattered and a window on the home had been broken. Adam Cunningham, 46, was reportedly walking in the driveway and holding a baseball bat.
The deputy ordered Cunningham to drop the bat, according to the news release but Cunningham reportedly refused and charged toward the deputy with the baseball bat. The deputy then shot and killed him.
Cunningham’s body, along with other evidence collected from the scene, was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
No other information was released Monday.
