Officials confirm that the Mayflower landfill is on fire
Mayflower, Arkansas – According to representatives of Mayflower, there is currently a fire at the dump on White City Road.
Ashton Tolliver, chief of the Mayflower Fire Department, said that when emergency services were summoned shortly after two in the morning, there was a significant amount of mulch on fire.
He said the fire was under control, but it has flared up now and again.
At 5:35 a.m., Chief Tolliver confirmed that employees were still in suppression mode.
Firefighters from Vilonia, Highway 286, Pine Village, Liberty, Saltillo, and Hilltop also showed up to the scene along with Forestry.
There are currently no reported injuries or burning rubbish.
