Sherwood, Arkansas – Monday marks a year when Sylvan Hills High School students and five young adults from Arkansas perished in a vehicle accident.

Despite the chilly weather on Sunday, more than 200 people turned out to run The Fab 5K in their honor.

Ava Luplow, Andrea Prime, Suzy Prime, Salomon Correa, and Maggie Franco perished in an automobile accident in Wyoming on January 22, 2023, while returning from Jackson Hole Bible College.

Maggie’s sister Joy Cahoone said that they all enjoyed staying active and in shape and that the race is a wonderful way to get people together for support during this difficult time.

“To lose someone that you spent your whole life with and then to learn to live without them is very hard to process,” Cahoone said.

Friends, family, and a community come together step by step and side by side.

“We did this in honor of all five of them,” Cahoone said.

Maggie, Andrea, and Salomon all attended the school, according to Cahoone, who also states that two school employees would benefit from the funds contributed.

“We want to give the scholarship to two students going to Jackson Hole Bible College, in honor of Suzy and Ava who were also going to go there,” Cahoone said.

She believes we’re all running this race called life, and she hopes the occasion reflects their beliefs.

“We’re going to go through different things and hills, and the run’s going to be hard but the end of the race it’s so important that we accept Christ as our savior,” Cahoone said.

In an effort to preserve the Fab 5’s legacy, they intend to make this a yearly race.
